Hi, I’m Chris,
It was actually my fortieth birthday and I was in a suit, on a ship, speaking at a conference when I first asked myself “Is this it? - What am I going to do for the rest of my life?” I decided then, that I’d had enough of the half-robot life that Elon Musk says we have now all become – I wanted to spend my time in real life.
Twenty years of prioritising real life later, I’ve spent my midlife using digital tools only to enhance my real-world experiences – working part-time for global charities, cycling around much of the globe (from Mount Everest to India and Saudi Arabia), running international marathons (incl. North Korea), writing three books, keeping my marriage and family strong, featuring on two national TV programmes, the BBC Homepage and BBC Radio 5, plus The Sun, Daily Mail and Financial Times, staying active - with the help of the NHS, being a Samaritan, named one of London's top 50 inspiring people and one of Britain’s most influential part-time workers and opening our ‘Breakaway’ retreat for midlifers in Greece. Mainly though, I’ve just enjoyed being outside, in real life, with other people and that’s a life I now help other midlifers transition into.
Chris.
